Jakiaben can continue working with dignity

Jakiaben A. Sheikh is 51 years old and lives in the village of Vejalpur near Ahmedabad. She works as a maid servant in 10 to 12 houses in her locality, where she does various jobs like washing clothes and utensils, and sweeping and mopping. Over the last year, she developed cataracts in her eyes, which hampered her ability to work. She could not work in as many households as she used to, and her work was not as good as it previously was, which resulted in frequent scoldings from the householders.

Your donation, Whitney, enabled BPA to perform a cataract surgery on Jakiaben. Her eyesight is now restored, and she knows that when she gets back to work, she will be able to do her work properly, and not get scolded. Since she is a person who conducts herself with dignity, this means a lot to her.
