Ready to expand his craft business..

Somubhai
Dear Justin,

Sixty-three year old Somubhai J. Kachiya hails from the village of Radhu in Kheda District, and has three children – one daughter and two sons.

Somubhai and his wife stay with their elder son and his family. Somubhai used to collect different locally available materials and waste wood and make crafts, toys and sell the same in the local market. Somubhai’s son, who is a daily wage worker mostly finds work only during the cultivation season. Thus, Somubhai’s work also helped earn up to $45 per month which helped them meet their basic needs.

But since the last two years, he was finding it difficult to make products because of his poor vision and this affected his income which dropped down to $12. This brought about tremendous pressure on his son who now had to single-handedly meet the family’s needs.

In a village camp organized by BPA, Somubhai got his eyes checked and was found to have developed a cataract problem and was asked to undergo surgery to correct his vision. It was difficult for them to afford his surgery and Somubhai’s vision would not have been restored, had it not been for your generous donation, Justin.

Post surgery, he can now see clearly  and is planning to expand his craft business.

Thank you, Justin, for your support!
